The Vandalia Rotary Club has built many shelters around Vandalia in years past. One of the shelters was built on the grounds of Tri-County Care Center and was completed in November of 1981.
Because of weather during those intervening years and inattention, the shelter needed repair. The roof was in bad shape as well as the edges.
Earlier this summer, the Vandalia Rotary Club decided to update the shelter with a new roof and edges. The group also decided to put in a ceiling to keep birds out of the rafters.
In July, the members of the club finished installing the new roof. On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Club installed a new metal ceiling in the shelter. The Club also power-washed the cement floor and purchased a new large metal table with eight chairs and two metal benches. The update on the shelter, now owned by Baptist Tri-County, has been completed.
