Van-Far’s Elementary School buzzed with excitement on Thursday, April 25 for Career Day.

Grades third through sixth had local community leaders come and share their careers with the students.

Mrs. Gilley, the Elementary School counselor invited the guest to come share their career paths and explain their day-to-day operations to the students.

Grades third and fifth had Ramsey Dickerman, a State Farm Insurance agent, Dr. Teresa Stice, optometrist at Precision Eyecare, Bryan & Sara Evans – owner/operators of Spencer Creek Beef, and Lara Bell, a nurse at Pike County Memorial Clinic. The fourth and sixth graders had Maci Johnson, owner/operator of Handsome Hound Grooming, Brandie Gay, with City Hall, Charla Smith with United Credit Union and Aaron Witte a physical therapist, rounded out the programs.

The students participated by asking questions about how the visitors started their careers and would they change anything about their occupations. Mrs. Gilley has already started making plans for next year.
