Tommy Reynolds Cunningham

Tommy Reynolds “Tom” Cunningham, 82, died at 9:55 a.m., Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Baptist Home of Tri-County. Services for Cunningham, of Vandalia, were at 11 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2024, at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Vandalia with Pastor Kenny Haddock officiating. Burial was in the Vandalia Cemetery. Visitation was Monday from 9 – 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

He was born in Bowling Green on Oct. 19, 1941, the son of Mack Reynolds and Buelah Mae Brewer Cunningham.

Tom Married Tanya Straube on Oct. 18, 1963, in Vandalia and she survives.

Other survivors include: one son; Bob (Linda) Cunningham of Mexico, one daughter; Terri (Jim) Eastwood of Laddonia, six grandchildren; Jacob Eastwood, Alexis (Austin) Marks, Josh Cunningham, Renae Owen, Ashlee Owen, and Emma Cunningham, three great grandchildren; Jackson Marks, Ahri Marks, and Syler Marks, along with several other relatives and a host of friends.

His parents died earlier.

Tom was a lifetime area resident and Christian by faith. He was a 1959 graduate of Van-Far High School. He managed the Sinclair station for many years in Vandalia before working for both National and Harbison-Walker Refractories where he would retire from in 2008. He enjoyed coaching Khoury League for many years and following men’s slow pitch softball. Tom had a passion for fishing and also enjoyed hunting, camping and gardening. He loved dogs especially his two Boston Terriers, Toby and Oliver. Tom was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan but most of all he enjoyed following his grandchildrens’ sporting events and getting to spend time with his family. He will be greatly missed.

Pallbearers were Jacob Eastwood, Josh Cunningham, Austin Marks, Brandon Straube, Christopher Straube, David Deters.

Honorary Pallbearers were Mike Bahr, Joe Ridgeway, Harold Williams, Tex Williams, Dennis Ward, Eddie Potter, David Willis, Bob Suddarth, Guy Willis, Alan Galloway, and Mike Potter.
