The Martinsburg Annual Picnic had its 120th anniversary last Friday and Saturday with the theme “Where Tradition Grows.
There were many events planned for both days. On Friday, the events included Country Kickers Line Dancing, a baby contest (birth to 24 months),
Little Mr. and Little Ms. Contests (3- to 5-years olds), a turtle race, a frog race, a super farmer contest (with the age groups at 12 and under, 13 to 16, and 17 and up)
Pacific Lights Band played as the night’s entertainment.
On Saturday, the events included a parade, the tractor pull, some kids games (Money Scramble, Bubble Gum toss, Sack race, Hula Hoop Contest, Watermelon Eating Contest, Three-legged Race, and Balloon Toss), Greased Pig Contest (4- to 12-years old, 13 and up, and a seniors’ division—50 and up), and Nail Driving Contest.
There were also many vendors who set up at the picnic, including Food Market Vendor, Big Gun Kettle Corn, Hickory Ridge Orchards, The American Legion (Beer Tent), The Knights of Columbus (Fish and Potatoes), and The Pork Producers (Sandwiches).
