Lady Indians take two out of three

The final regular season week for the Lady Indians were on the road to Wright City and Columbia and home for two games.

Monday, Feb. 12, the Lady Indians traveled to Wright City. The Lady Indians took on the Wildcats and started off strong. The Lady Indians controlled the whole game against the Lady Wildcats. After the first quarter, the Lady Indians led 12-8 and then 22-13 at the half. The second quarter was the best for Van-Far, scoring 10-5 over Wright City.

The second half was the same. Van-Far held strong and never gave up. Outscoring Wright City 15-12, the Lady Indians took the third quarter leading 37-25. In the final quarter, the Lady Wildcats made a run on the Lady Indians but came up short. The Lady Indians was victorious against the Lady Wildcats 48-36. Elliott Utterback led the Lady Indians to victory scoring 18 points. Additional scorers for Van-Far included McKenna Eng-Hoffman with 9 points, Khloe Wallace with 7 points, Mylee Keller with 6 points, Katelyn Sutton with 4 points and Kenya Jones and Chloe Zumwalt both with 2 points.

Tuesday, Feb. 13, Just like Monday night’s game, the Lady Indians were still controlling the floor on the road in Columbia. Controlling the whole game, the Lady Indians took on a 17-point run to start the game.  At the end of the first, Van-Far led the quarter 17-0. Scoring 18 points in the second quarter to Columbia Independents only scoring 6, the Lady Indians took the first half 35-6. The Lady Indians were still hot coming out after the half. In the third quarter, Van-Far went on a 14-point run, outscoring Columbia Independent and taking the victory 60-10. Once again Elliott Utterback led the Lady Indians with 16 points. Utterback and Carmen Wilburn each hit multiple three-pointers for the Lady Indians. Additional scorers for the Lady Indians include Chloe Zumwalt with 11 points, Wilburn with 10, McKenna Eng-Hoffman with 9, Trinity Skwirtz with 4, Katelyn Sutton and Mylee Keller with 3 points and Kenya Jones and Khloe Wallace with 2 points each.

Thursday, Feb. 15, the Lady Indians steam ran out against the Clopton Lady Hawks. Carmen Wilburn would lead the Lady Indians with 14 points. Additional scorers for the Lady Indians, Elliott Utterback scored 10 points, Chloe Zumwalt with 7 points, McKenna Eng-Hoffman and Kenya Jones with 2 points each. Jones also collected 7 boards to lead the Lady Indians on the glass.

Saturday, Feb. 17, a rescheduled game from the night before against Bowling Green Lady Bobcats. The first quarter was the best for the Lady Indians as they outscored the Lady Cats, 32-20. For both teams, the second quarter was scoreless. Leading at the half, 32-20, the Lady Indians went on to have a 23-point lead before the Lady Cats took on a 21 point run to close the gap. Never trailing, the Lady Indians fought hard to victory as they held off the Lady Cats winning 52-45. Elliott Utterback was the leading scorer for the Lady Indians scoring 17 points. Additional scorers helping out were Carmen Wilburn with 14 points, Chloe Zumwalt and Kenya Jones with 6 points, McKenna Eng-Hoffman with 5 points, and finishing out was Trinity Skwirtz and Mylee Keller both with 2 points each.
