The First Presbyterian Church of Vandalia spent April 27, a sunny Saturday morning, with the Mark Twain Lake – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reworking the ground in front of the M.W. Boudreaux Memorial Visitor Center.
This has become an annual mission project for the church, which always includes some form of landscaping. Whether removing old plant debris or shoveling new rock, the church members said they finds the projects rewarding and full of fun and fellowship.
While 14 men, women and children in the group worked with members of the Corps, five church members stayed back at the Jack Briscoe Group Camp site and worked on preparing lunch.
Several intrepid campers spent Friday and Saturday night camping despite the dismal weather forecast.
