Nothing warms one’s heart quite like seeing young men and women doing volunteer work for their community.
On Wednesday, June 22, Jamie Franke, the pastor at Vandalia First Christian Church, went out with the church’s youth group to do some community work.
The Tri-County Care Center welcomed the offer, so Jamie and his wife, Christy, took a few members of the youth group to Tri-County Care to do some plant work and painting.
“We thought it would be nice to do something,” Christy said.
Noah Witte, Joseph Woodward, Silas Jacyna, and Jonathan and Phoebe Gore helped give a pavilion behind the care center a fresh coat of paint. Out in front of the care center, Jalen Redburn, Katelyn Sutton, and Ellie Boyd weeded the garden area and planted some lovely new flowers.
Despite the day’s heat and the general repetitiveness of painting, the young men and women remained in good spirits. It is good to know there are still young men and women who are happy helping out their community.
