100th Anniversary set for Chapter CE P.E.O.

Chapter CE  P. E. O. held its monthly meeting at the St. John Lutheran Church, Vandalia, Tuesday evening, April 21 with Dotty Cahill and Anne Barnes as hostesses. Refreshments of strawberry filled angel food cake and beverages were served from a table covered in a spring green cloth with a white lace overlay and accented with pots of white petunias. President Cindy Pirch conducted the business portion of the meeting.

  • Library Week offers forgiveness of fines

    National Library Week is April 12-18. Bring in your overdue items (in good condition) during National Library Week and the fine for that item will be forgiven. Return the items to any of the Mexico-Audrain County Library District locations of Mexico, Farber, Laddonia, Martinsburg, or Vandalia.

    Members of the Audrain County R-VI FFA Chapter in Missouri were one of 43 teams participating in the National FFA Meats Evaluation and Technology Career Development Event (CDE). The event was held in conjunction with the 87th National FFA Convention and Expo in Louisville, Kentucky. The team, led by advisor Stacy French, was awarded a Gold emblem.     The Van-Far High School graduating Class of 1959 held it’s 55th reunion on October 25 at the Country Cupboard in Vandalia. Decorations were in the school colors of black and gold with black tablecloths and gold napkins. Bonnie Gibson and Janie Zimmer decorated each table with a crystal vase filled with gold balls.   • Local students get scholarships

    The University of Missouri Agricultural Alumni Association provided $50,000 in scholarship money to 25 CAFNR upper class students for the 2014-2015 academic year. The association funded over $18,000 in teaching and educational enhancements for the college’s, students, faculty, and staff last year. The University of Missouri Ag Alumni Association and its board of Directors is dedicated to the goals and traditions of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources.
