R-VI FFA team finishes 8th

Members of the Audrain County R-VI FFA Chapter in Missouri were one of 43 teams participating in the National FFA Meats Evaluation and Technology Career Development Event (CDE). The event was held in conjunction with the 87th National FFA Convention and Expo in Louisville, Kentucky. The team, led by advisor Stacy French, was awarded a Gold emblem.   • Class of 1959 holds reunion

    The Van-Far High School graduating Class of 1959 held it’s 55th reunion on October 25 at the Country Cupboard in Vandalia. Decorations were in the school colors of black and gold with black tablecloths and gold napkins. Bonnie Gibson and Janie Zimmer decorated each table with a crystal vase filled with gold balls.   • Local students get scholarships

    The University of Missouri Agricultural Alumni Association provided $50,000 in scholarship money to 25 CAFNR upper class students for the 2014-2015 academic year. The association funded over $18,000 in teaching and educational enhancements for the college’s, students, faculty, and staff last year. The University of Missouri Ag Alumni Association and its board of Directors is dedicated to the goals and traditions of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources.

    The 4-H Recognition Night was held on October 4 at the Mark Twain High School. This is a celebration honoring all the 4-H members and leaders for their accomplishments and outstanding work they have completed throughout the year. The evening started off with honoring the first-year leaders: Dana Keller, Daniel Mallory, Debbie McMillen, Jessie Armour, Jessie Mundell, Kaylyn Powell, Pam Barnes, Ruth Evans, Sarah Evans, Tresa Lempka, and Bill Moore.

  • World War II Exhibit on display

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake would like to announce that a small exhibit on World War II will be on display at the M.W.     The Van-Far Alumni and Friends Association met Thursday, October 23 to evaluate the September annual meeting of the Association.
