Women’s Guild met May 8

The St. John Women’s Guild met Wednesday evening, May 8, 2013, at the church.  The meeting was called to order and opened with prayer by president, Carol Fischer.
Elsie Hand presented the topic, “Pointing to Jesus.”  Seven members (Carol Fischer, Dotty Cahill, Regina Vogt, Elsie Hand, Sabrina Lovell, Marlo Hunn, Karen Morris) answered roll call by reading a scripture containing the words “grow or growing.”
Secretary’s report was not available.  Treasurer, Regina Vogt, presented the financial report.
Committee reports were given.  Several members may attend the Volunteer Luncheon on May 15, at Tri County Care Center, in conjunction with National Nursing Home Week.   Deadline to RSVP is May 13.  It was reported that the Circuit Pastors’ Conference went well.  Five members from St. John Guild attended the Zone Spring Rally at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bowling Green, MO on April 27.  Regina extended the invitation for the Zone Fall Rally, which will be hosted by St. John on October 26, 2013.  Discussion about a program for the rally will be continued at the June meeting.
Plans were finalized for the Mother-Daughter Brunch to be held in the church fellowship hall on May 11, with Heritage Café catering the event.
Pastor Finney will be leaving St. John in July.  Tentative plans were discussed regarding a farewell dinner or open house to be held at the church, in celebration of his years serving St. John congregation.
Meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.  Refreshments were served by Elsie Hand.
