The St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild in Vandalia met at the church on March 13, following a Lenten meal and worship service.
The meeting was opened with prayer by President Carol Fischer.
The Lenten sermon served as the devotion for the evening.
Seven members answered roll call, each reading a scripture related to hunger or being hungry.
The secretary’s minutes were read and approved. There was no financial report.
Karen Morris, altar chairperson, reported that palms and Easter lilies have been ordered.
Members reported that the luncheon served at the Christian Church on February 27 was successful, though attendance was down due to inclement weather.
Members will be meeting at the home of Dotty Cahill on April 3 to work on compiling a history  of the guild.
After being tabled last month, discussion continued regarding a Mother/Daughter event.
It was agreed that this year the group will try a brunch rather that an April meeting.
The service project for this month was bringing items for the food pantry.
Refreshments were served by Carol Fischer.
Besides those already mentioned, Angie Morris, Marlo Hunn, Elsie Hand, and Brenda Elliot were in attendance at the meeting.
The next St. John Lutheran Women’s Guild meeting will be held on April 10.
