Wishing local softball players good luck in districts

I just want to take this time to wish both the Van-Far and Community R-VI softball teams the best of luck in this week’s district tournament being played in New Haven. A complete schedule is available in this issue.
Though Van-Far had a tough past week, the Lady Indians were 12-4 entering that stretch.
In softball, that’s a pretty impressive record.
They narrowly lost to Clopton in their last meeting with the Lady Hawks.
If the Lady Indians can take care of business in the semifinals, they could possibly have a rematch with Clopton. It’s hard for any team to beat another team three times in the same season.
Though I know the district finals are the same night as Friday night football, my hope is that the Lady Indians get significant fan support willing to make the drive if they have this chance to earn a trip back to the state playoffs.
Meanwhile, a young Community R-VI softball team would like to reach the finals as well though they will have a tough road ahead of them.
If you see the players and coaches on Wednesday for either team, wish them good luck as they enter the postseason.
The Vandalia Leader will be providing scores throughout the tournament on Facebook and Twitter.
