VFW Auxiliary Post meets

The Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 2173 met on Thursday, January 19 at the post home in Vandalia.
President Norma Jean Shaw called the 7 p.m. meeting to order. Opening ceremonies were observed.
The minutes were approved as read for the November meeting.
There had been no meeting in December.  The Treasurer’s Report showed the current balance with her report being filed for audit.
Correspondence was read from the Department of Missouri and thanks from the Farber Presbyterian Church and Ken and Willa Mollet for the Alvina Mollet Memorial donation.
A thank you letter was received from the National Home for Children for a recent donation sent to them.
Community Service Chair Ann Wasson collected hours from the members present. The fourth quarter audit report was given by Mary Gramley and was approved.
During the business meeting, donations were approved to the Past Presidents’ Scholarship Fund.
The bill for Christmas presents at the Missouri Veterans’ Home in Mexico was approved.
Twenty-seven towel bibbs had been made and donated to the home.
It was announced that Elaine Brookshier had received a Cancer Grant from the National organization.
Joy Davis has updated the Scholarship Application Form at the Van-Far High School.
There was a discussion of prospective members.
Closing ceremonies were observed.
The eleven members attending were Janet Armstrong, Vivian Davis, Donna DeTienne, Val Galloway, Mary Gramley, Judy Hull, Norma Shaw, Ann Wasson, and Wanda Winders.
The next auxiliary meeting is Thursday, February 9, at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend all meetings.
