The Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 2173 met on Thursday, November 10 at the post home in Vandalia. President Norma Jean Shaw called the 7 p.m. meeting to order. Opening ceremonies were observed.
The minutes were approved as read for the October meeting. The treasurer’s report showed the current balance with her report being filed for audit. A donation had been received from a current member.
Correspondence was read from the Department of Missouri and thanks to the VFW Post No. 2173 for the Gerald Lowrance memorial.
Community Service Chair Ann Wasson collected hours from the members present. Scholarship and Youth Activities Chair Joy Davis reported eight entries in the Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest.
During the business meeting, donations were made to the Farber Presbyterian Church in memory of Alvina Mollet and the Vandalia United Methodist Church in memory of Louise Butts. The third quarter audit report was accepted. A donation was made to Toys for Tots 2016.
The charter was draped in memory of Alvina Mollet and Louise Butts.
Joy Davis will revise the VFW Auxiliary Scholarship application form for 2017.
Get-well greetings were signed to send to member Kimberly Shaw Graves.
Closing ceremonies were observed.
The eleven members attending were Janet Armstrong, Joy Davis, Vivian Davis, Donna DeTienne, Val Galloway, Mary Gramley, Judy Hull, Norma Shaw, Victoria Shaw, Ann Wasson, and Wanda Winders.
The next auxiliary meeting is Thursday, December 8, at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend all meetings.
