The back-to-school fair is more than just a shopping spree for school supplies; it’s a celebration of community unity here in Vandalia.

Local businesses, volunteers, and educators will come together to ensure that every child has the tools they need to succeed for the next school year. As the fall semester draws closer, the goal of having the back-to-school fair is to make things convenient for parents

This year, the back-to-school fair will be held at the First Baptist Multi-Purpose building on Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The community has donated a lot to the program this year. Local churches have donated backpacks and school supplies, local businesses have given donations, as well.

The Pike County Health Department will be providing immunizations. There will also be free haircuts, hygiene bags, water bottles and crafts for the children.

A local business has donated lunch for this event. There will be free hot dogs, chips and a drink for everyone that attends.
