Several members of the Mexico-Audrain Library District were joined by Vandalia Branch Library employees, city and county officials, along with a contractor during a Groundbreaking Ceremony on Tuesday, March 22 at the site of where the new library building will be constructed. The goal is for the building to be ready for the Fall. During the ceremony, Board President Aggie Deimeke thanked those who were in attendance for the event and thanked many individuals for their roles in helping the district get to this point. A special recognition was given to the Friends of the Library group, who worked hard fundraising for the project. Board member Connie Hesse made some remarks and introduced contractor Jeff Johnson, far right. The new building will be located across from the former site of the library, on the property where Tri-County Building Supply stood for many years on Main St. in Vandalia.
