Holding onto a  6-5 record, the Van-Far Lady Indians traveled to Silex on Tuesday, September 17 to play the Lady Owls. Van-Far lost the game by a score of 3-2.
The first inning was scoreless for both teams. In the second, the Silex Lady Owls hit back-to-back singles, and then a ground rule double that brought home a run.
The Lady Indians also got things started in the second with back-to-back singles by Breanna Strange and Ciara Craven.  The Lady Indians took an early lead when both Strange and Craven scored on a well hit ball by Annaliese Hubert that skipped by the outfielder to go to the fence.
Silex retaliated in the seventh by hitting a two run-homer over the left-center field fence to win the game.
Payton Willis tossed six innings, walked six, allowed seven hits, and three runs. Willis had nine strikeouts.
“It was a disappointing loss to say the least. The girls were upset and disappointed after the game.  But you know, that’s not a bad thing.  They showed some emotion and fire after the game.  I liked that.  It was a game we knew we could have won and got away from us.  Maybe this will be a motivating force in a positive way for us to play the game with more emotion and fire,” said head coach Wes Rowden.
