The Van-Far boys and girls track and field teams continued their strong season last week after competing in meets held in Paris and Louisiana.
In the Paris Relays, Van-Far’s boys scored 30 team points to finish in seventh place.
The relay teams scored points as the 4×100-meter squad placed third in 51.56 seconds and the 4×200-meter relay team was fourth in 1:50.94.
Joseph Clithero paced the Indians by placing third in the 200 meters with a time of 26.75 seconds. He placed fourth in the 100 meters in 12.41 seconds.
Sharrod Connor finished fourth in the 200 meters in 27.31 seconds and fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 37’2”.
The Lady Indians scored 20 team points for eighth place.
The relay squads were strong as the 4×100-meter relay took fourth with a time of 1:00.61 while the 4×200-meter relay team was fifth in 2:11.
Abilene Gatson placed third in the triple jump after leaping 29’10.25”. She also took third in the high jump after clearing 4’2”.
Abby Robinson placed sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 14.66 seconds. She also took sixth in the long jump after leaping 15’6”.
Both Van-Far teams struggled to make an impact during the Cunningham Invitational held Saturday in Louisiana.
The Lady Indians did score five team points to finish in 12th place.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Alexis DeTienne, Emily Laskowski, Madison Orr, and Robinson finished sixth with a time of 59.09 seconds.
DeTienne, Laskowski, Orr, and Gatson teamed to help the 4×200-meter relay finish seventh with a time of 2:07.34.
Gatson placed sixth in the high jump after clearing 4’4”. She also took sixth in the triple jump after leaping 29’2.25”.
Robinson finished fifth in the long jump after leaping 14’6”.
The Indians struggled in the deep field.
Connor placed seventh in the triple jump after leaping 37’8.50”. He also took eighth in the 200 meters in 24.70 seconds. The 4×100-meter relay team of Conner Albrecht, Chad Garland, Clithero, and Connor finished with a time of 52.51 seconds. They also teamed in the 4×200-meter relay to finish in 1:46.21.
