The Van-Far boys and girls track and field teams had several top eight finishes at meets held in Bowling Green and Fulton.
“I really like the way we are progressing as individuals and as teams in the relay events,” said Van-Far head track and field coach Blake Logan. “The kids are willing to be pushed in practice which is translating to improved time and distances in all events across the board.”
Freshman Sharrod Connor led the Indians with another solid performance in multiple events.
Connor placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 36’. He also took sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 59.87 seconds. Connor teamed with Logan Boyd, Joseph Clithero, and Conner Albrecht to place sixth in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:21.
Joseph Clithero nearly finished in the top eight as he took ninth in both the 100 meters and 200 meters. Jace Gay placed ninth in the 3,200 meters.
Chevi Windland helped the Lady Indians as she took second in the 800 meters with a time of 2:52.28. She nearly earned points in the 4×100-meter relay as she teamed with Alexis DeTienne, Emily Laskowski, and Madison Orr for ninth place.
Abilene Gatson scored points after taking fourth in the long jump with a leap of 14’2”. She also took fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 29’2.50” and sixth in the high jump after clearing 4’4”.
Abby Robinson, Orr, Laskowski, and DeTienne finished seventh in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 2:09.71.
Laskowski almost scored points in the 400 meters after taking ninth place in 1:24.86.
At the M.S.D. meet held later in the week in Fulton, the boys and girls track and field teams earned several medals though official times and places weren’t released as of press time.
Connor took fifth place in the triple jump and also earned a medal in the 400 meters.
Other boys winning medals include Chad Garland and Clithero in the 200 meters, Albrecht in the 800 meters, and the 1,600 sprint medley relay team took second.
The Lady Indians’ medal winners include Gatson and DeTienne in the 100 meters, Robinson in the 200 meters, and Windland in the 400 meters. The 800 sprint medley relay team took third place.
