Van-Far R-I School District to be commended as a host

Van-Far R-I School officials, teachers, and administrators should be commended for how smooth the Class 2, District 5 basketball tournament came together as the first day of games wrapped up on Monday night.
Parking was a concern of many who remembered the last time Van-Far hosted districts in 2005.
In moving those carrying passes to the parking lot next to the Ag building, just enough parking was cleared up to offer plenty of parking spaces in the main parking lot at the school on a night with four games.
In the main lot, parking attendants directed cars to their spots, entrances were well labeled, and  everything was marked well once inside.
The Van-Far Booster Club operated the concessions and a hospitality room was also offered.
There was even a set of bleachers put on the stage to help with any overcrowding that could occur.
Two of the games came down to the wire and the evening ended around 10:30 p.m. as a success.
If you see Van-Far Athletic Director Holly Jungers and any of the countless administrators, teachers, and other officials who worked during districts, please be sure to let them know how much you appreciate the smooth operation of this year’s tournament.
Van-Far represented itself well and hopefully will have another opportunity to host districts again in the near future.
