Van-Far’s JV boys basketball team outscored two EMO Conference teams 124-72 to improve its record to 9-3 overall.
The Indians opened the week with an impressive 68-28 win over Montgomery County and ended the week with a 56-44 win over Mark Twain.
“This group keeps getting better and better each day,” said Van-Far head coach Pat Connaway. “We share the ball well and our defensive pressure is getting pretty good. We are getting more confident each game and are starting to shoot the ball really well. The one thing this group does well is have balance on the offensive end we have three to four kids in double figures every night. I’m pleased with the progress this group has made this season and with the two wins we improved to 9-3 on the season. The JV tourney championship has seemed to really motivate these kids to come in and compete against the varsity every day. The better they get the better they make our varsity.”
In the win over the Wildcats, Rylee Hanson led Van-Far with 16 points. Riley Culwell added 12 points; both Verlyn Johnson and Dillion Minor scored 11 points; both Colin Wilburn and Sam Middleton scored five points; and both Verdell Johnson and Logan Wilson had four points.
In the victory over the Tigers, Wilburn had a team-high 14 points. Verlyn Johnson scored 12 points; Riley Culwell had nine points; Minor added seven points; both Verdell Johnson and Hanson had four points; while two points were scored by Treyson Culwell, Middleton, and Wilson.
