The Van-Far Indians kicked off their season with an impressive victory against the Westran Hornets, delighting their fans who filled the stands.
The game, held on Friday night, saw the Indians dominate from the start, ultimately securing a decisive 44 – 13 win.
From the opening whistle, Van-Far’s offense was unstoppable. They quickly established a lead, showcasing their skill and determination.
The Douglas Twins, Tyson and Malik, were the stars of the night, combining for an impressive 30 carries that consistently pushed the team forward. Their ruthless effort and smooth coordination were pivotal in establishing an early lead for Van-Far, which they maintained throughout the game.
Quarterback Reece Culwell had eight carries on the night with a 33% in passing with nine attempts and three completions for 33 yards.
Cayden Douglas came in with six, Gaven Gaston and Ty Evans rounding out with three. T. Douglas had a receiving catch of 22 yards, Gaston had a catch of eight yards and Evan Utterback caught a pass for three yards.
From the outset, the Van-Far defense was relentless, effectively shutting down Westran’s offensive attempts. Their ability to read plays and execute tackles with precision left the Hornets struggling to gain any significant ground. By halftime, the Indians had already established a comfortable lead, thanks in large part to their defensive talent. This comprehensive performance not only highlighted the Indians’ potential for the season but also set a high standard for their upcoming games.
The second half saw more of the same, with Van-Far’s defense continuing to dominate. They forced multiple turnovers and consistently pressured Westran’s quarterback, preventing any potential comeback. The defense’s efforts were crucial in maintaining the Indians’ lead and securing the win.
By the end of the third quarter, the score was already 44 – 13, allowing the Indians to coast through the final quarter with confidence.
Jackson Fischer had two sacks for the night along with Utterback with one. This victory not only highlights the strength of Van-Far’s defense but also sets a promising tone for the rest of the season.
