Van-Far’s week-long Courtwarming ceremony received an extra boost of energy with the varsity boys basketball squad’s 63-47 victory over Wright City on Friday, February 1 — not to mention the nearly $900 dollars raised for Project Prom from the mid-game auctioning of two basketballs signed by the boys and girls basketball teams.

This year’s Courtwarming theme was “Board Games,” from which each class based its banner and hall decoration. Outside of the general theme of Courtwarming 2013, students participated in a series of dress-up days: Monday called for pajama pants, Tuesday was favorite team gear day, Wednesday was dubbed switcheroo day, Thursday was black and gold day, and Friday was class color day.

Judged on creativity, coherence to the theme, and overall appearance, the junior class placed third in the banner competition with the seniors taking second and the freshman class reigning supreme.

The freshmen fell from their first place banner spot, placing third for most spirit. The junior class placed second for school spirit and the sophomores class won first place.

In the hallway decoration contest, the junior class took third place, the sophomores placed second, and the senior class won first place.

Overall, the juniors took the third place spot, one-upped by the sophomores, who secured second. The senior class won first place overall.

Van-Far students also voted on one boy and girl with the most school spirit, which were Dylan Stubblefield and Brooke Johnson.
