Van-Far holds final concert of the year

The Van-Far High School Department presented their end-of-the-year concert on May 12.
Selections performed by the High School Choir were “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Somewhere Out There,” “You Raise Me Up,” “Poor, Wayfaring Stranger,” and “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride.”
The Varsity Letter Winners criteria was attendance of an EMO Conference event (Conference Choir or Band), Attendance at all concerts in an Academic year, 85% or higher grade in music classes and the student must have a superior attitude toward music, and be excellent and well behaved in class at all times.
Seniors recognized were Logan Boyd (percussion), Josh Nutt (percussion), Ashley Marshall (alto), Brooke Johnson (flute/piccolo), and Cody Buie (trumpet). The Bertram Cowley Memorial Scholarship went to Brooke Johnson.
The John Phillip Sousa Award was presented to Cody Buie.
The High School Band performed “Lexington March” and “Yellow Mountains.” The Senior Selection was “On the Wings of Swallows” and they finished with “God Bless America.”
