Van-Far holds Dinner Fundraiser Concert

Combined Choirs sing “The Sound of Silence.”

The Van-Far Music Department presented it’s Dinner Fundraiser Concert on Sunday, April 17.
There was large variety of music selections, food and refreshments served, and a Silent Auction.
Money raised from the event will go towards furthering the department in its path to success.
The first to perform was the High School Choir. They sang ‘Cantate Hodie (Sing Today);” “Old Abram Brown” featuring a quartet of Baileigh Lucas, Katlynn Hunn, Makayla Vigial, and Tina Florea; and “All Around the World Tonight.”
A Combined Choirs selection was “The Sound of Silence.”
The Junior High Choir sang “Eja, Eja!;” “Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride” with soloists Colin Wilburn, Sharon Baur, and Maleah Hagan; and “Irish Blessing.”
The 6th grade band then played several selections that included “Aura Lee,” “This Old Man,” theme from “Hansel and Gretel,” “Polly Wolly Doodle,” “All Through the Night,” “Alouette,” “Home on the Range,” “The Conquering Hero,” variations on a theme by Mozart, and “Theme from Symphony No. 9.”
The Junior High Band performed “Hungarian Dance No. 5,” “Concert Chorale,” “Israelie Folk Songs,” and “The Blue Danube.”
The High School Band followed with “The Ringmaster,” “Jubilance,” and music from “The Incredibles.” The last selection featured soloist Janie Swarthout and Alex Holtkamp on a drum kit.
