The Van-Far golf team continues to make their presence known when they competed in area events the past two weeks.
The Indians shot their lowest team score of the year with a combined 339 in the Centralia Invitational.
Freshman Rylee Hanson led Van-Far with his lowest score of 77, shooting 37 on the front nine and 40 on the back nine.
Brayden Christian was just two strokes back at 79, Jayson Orr had an 89, and Zane Allen shot a career-low of 94.
Overall, Van-Far placed third in the 10-team event and was the best Class 1 school competing.
In the always tough Warrenton Invitational, the Indians shot a combined 361.
Hanson led the team with an 83, Christian shot an 89, Orr had a 91, and Ethan Winders shot a 98.
Palmyra Varsity Tournament
In Palmyra, the Indians were fourth out of eight teams after shooting a 365.
Christian placed fifth overall with an 80 and Orr was ninth with an 81. Winders and Allen both added a 102 while Hanson had a 104.
“The season has gone wonderfully so far,” said Van-Far head coach Alex Cucciarre. “I’ve enjoyed watching Brayden lead the team as our sole upperclassman. He’s a great leader and role model for this young team. When Rylee started playing his game, he put up fantastic numbers. It’s funny to see coaches reactions when they find out he’s only a freshman. Adding Jayson, Zane, and Ethan into those numbers for the team score only shows how strong our team is as a whole. It really bodes well for a pretty good and deep postseason run.”
