When the Van-Far golf season ended in 2011, then head coach Brett Reading was uncertain what the future would hold for a program with eight graduating seniors.
After all, the eight graduates had earned several conference, district, and state honors during their tenure. There were also very few undergraduate golfers who could even return for 2012.
Fortunately, this year’s Van-Far squad has first year head coach in Dane Brooks and five golfers, which are enough golfers to earn team points.
Brooks played golf when at Sturgeon High School and saw many all-state golfers through his time there. He was his team’s No. 2 golfer during his final two years as he was also playing baseball at the same time.
Sophomore Cody Buie is the team’s lone returner with golfing experience.
