The Van-Far golf team opened its season at home last week with a dominating 66 stroke victory over Bowling Green. The event was scheduled for four teams before both Palmyra and Monroe City reportedly backed out. Van-Far shot a 173 while Bowling Green finished with a 239.
“The conditions were wet but the boys played really well for our first official outing,” said Van-Far head coach Melissa Orr. “We will continue to work on our short game, both pitching and putting, to lower the nine hole scores even more. Each golfer had a really good hole and we will be building on that in the weeks to follow.”
Rylee Hanson led the Indians with a 40, both Brayden Christian and Jayson Orr shot a 42, and Zane Allen had a 49. Ethan Winders added a 52 and Trevor Winders shot a 57.
