On October 24, 16 members of the Van-Far FFA chapter traveled to Indianapolis, Ind., where they attended the FFA National Convention.
On the way there, the group stopped at “Not Just Popcorn” in Edinburgh, Ind., and after settling in at the hotel and some going for a short swim, the members got ready to attend The Band Perry and Brantley Gilbert concert at the Lucas Oil Stadium.
At “Not Just Popcorn,” staff took the Van-Far FFA members on a tour through the factory, including all the steps from the kernel to the popped, flavored masterpiece.
Being generous, the manager gave everyone a sample of Dill Pickled flavored popcorn.
Later the bus landed at the Wingate Indianapolis, where everyone rushed off the bus with only an hour before having to be boarded again to go out for the night. Brantley Gilbert and The Band Perry performed late into the night, putting on a great concert!
The next morning, the group went to the opening session of the convention at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Later in the day, the students went on a tour of Oliver Vineyards and Winery where they learned about viticulture. They concluded the day with a trip to the Asylum House, a haunted house that included a zombie paintball course.
Friday morning, FFA members participated in the “Rally to Fight Hunger;” a nationwide event aimed at combating hunger in the United States and abroad.
Throughout the convention, FFA packaged over 1 million  meals. In the afternoon, participants went to the career show, where there were hundreds of booths. They ended the last night at the hotel, working on homework, ordering pizza, and staying up way too late!
The last morning, they went back to the Lucas Oil Stadium and supported fellow FFA member Kristen George as she received her American FFA Degree; the highest award you can get in FFA.
