On Saturday, October 15, the Van-Far FFA Chapter hosted a drive-in showing of “Sandlot” on the softball field just outside of the Ag Building. Chapter officers and members dedicated four hours of their time Saturday to setting up concessions, games, and the big screen. Tony and Trevor Lower, Tracy Wilburn, and Sherry Phillips came out that evening to help the FFA members.
In the weeks leading up to the event, the Ag Construction class, taught by FFA advisor Miss Tonya St. John, built and assembled six corn-hole boards and a life-size “Jenga” game for the younger members of the community to play with while waiting for the sun to go down.
Once the stars came out and the lights around the softball field dimmed, FFA officers projected “Sandlot” onto the big screen.
Moviegoers enjoyed popcorn, hotdogs, and fresh-made hot chocolate during the movie.
Despite struggling with wind early on in the day, attendees enjoyed calm, warm weather during the movie, and the event went off without a hitch.
