The 32nd annual Van-Far FFA BBQ was held Saturday February 22, 2014 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
There was a good turnout with approximately 300 people showing up to support the local FFA chapter.
Everyone left with a full stomach, and hopefully a gift in their hand from the door prizes.
The ticket for entering the BBQ was either $8 or a dollar off for two cans of food.
Because of this, there were 87 canned food items collected.
The Van-Far FFA Alumni Chapter was on hand to help with cooking and kitchen clean-up and their help was appreciated as always.
The chapter would like to thank Ennis Implement for donating the plates, napkins and cutlery, County Market for providing the pork steaks and barbeque sauce, the Country Cupboard for providing the sides, and all of the FFA members that brought in desserts.
They would also like to thank Gary and Cindy Pirch, LaCrosse Lumber of Vandalia, Sydenstricker Implement of Curryville, Ennis Implement, the Vandalia Florist, Dairy Queen of Vandalia, Pizza Hut of Vandalia, Dollar General of Vandalia, True Value Breneman & Ennis Hardware of Vandalia, First National Bank of Vandalia, First State Community Bank, Shear Platinum, Oden’s Hardware, H & R Block of Vandalia, Angela’s Dance Company, Vandalia Firestone and Appliance, Chad Wallace, Shannon and Felicity Culwell, John and Mary Wallace, B&B Electric, Vandalia MFA, Martinsburg Bank and Trust, Craig’s Truck and Tractor, Vandalia Area Fair Board, Smith Automotive, and Johnson Construction for donating all of the door prizes.
This was considered a record year for the BBQ with the only complaint being that people were too full at the end!
Thank you to all of the community members that came out to eat and support the Van-Far FFA!
