While it was a celebration for Van-Far’s FCCLA  students with their annual banquet last week, it was also a sad time as long time advisor Teresa Klott spoke at her final event.
Klott is retiring at the end of the school year. She said she’s been blessed during her time with the district and organization.
“I have been blessed with an ordinary life, not one made of riches where every need and want were laid out before me, but one where I was given the tools to learn how to do it on my own,” Klott said during the banquet. “…We have laughed together, cried together and even prayed together. Most of all, we have learned together. We have learned what is right and true. We’ve even learned what not to do. We’ve learned that we are not alone, but how to rely on one another and to let someone help us when we need help.”
While missing her time serving the district, Klott is looking forward the future.
“So now it is my turn to fly and soar to a new chapter,” she said. “It is with gratitude and pride that I will leave so that a new legacy can be left to write. I know the story has a great beginning because it had a wonderful ending for I am truly blessed.”
Klott received the Excellence in Advising Award, the Distinguished Service Award, and the Advisor Mentor Award at the FCCLA State Leadership Conference. She was recognized for receiving these awards near the end of last week’s event at Van-Far.
A video was shown in her honor.
During this year’s banquet, FCCLA President Abbegail Robinson led the opening ceremony after the introduction of the officers.
Treasurer Lindsey Nitcher gave the devotion before the meal was served. Reporter Gina Clausen thanked many people for their support through the school year and with the banquet.
Historian Baileigh Lucas then presented a slide show filled with memories from this past school year.
This year’s Outstanding Members were Nicole Harvey (High School-900 points) and Katelyn Hunn (Junior Division-510 points).
