The Van-Far/Community Indians (1-4) defeated Clopton/Elsberry (2-4) by a score of 40-20 for a homecoming win.
“Tony [Garland] did a great job of leading the offense tonight,” said Indians Head Coach John Kliewer.
Garland threw more touchdowns—three—during the game than he had thrown all season prior to the game (2). He was able to connect with two touchdown throws to Latrell Wrightf, who finished the game with 92 yards on four catches.
Garland also scored twice on the ground. Bryson Lay rushed for 106 yards on 14 carries.
Clopton/Elsberry dominated time of possession at 29:47 to 17:55 minutes and had 293 total yards to 265 for the Indians. But five interceptions by the Van-Far/Community defense and a proficient Indian offense did them in.
“This victory was a great team effort, Kliewer said. “Everyone played a role throughout the week in practice and in the game.”
