After a solid showing in the season opening Jamboree, the Van-Far Indians baseball team hit an early season wall last week after its offense had just two total hits in a pair of 10-0 mercy rule losses.
Van-Far first took on Calvary Lutheran and dropped a 10-0 decision.
Starting pitcher Lucas Robinson struggled after allowing seven runs in 2 1/3 innings. He walked six batters and had just one strikeout.
Wyatt McDowell tossed 1 2/3 innings and allowed two earned runs and two hits while striking out one.
Offensively, McDowell drew two walks and had the Indians’ lone hit with a double in the 5th inning. Michael Colson, Jake Stuart, and Layten McMillen also drew walks. Rainy conditions forced the team’s Friday home opener to be moved to Louisiana’s field. The Indians lost the game 10-0.
Robinson picked up the loss after giving up seven runs in 2 2/3 innings. He also walked five batters and struck out four. Louisiana scored four runs on an error and two singles in the first inning and never looked back.
Logan Boyd had the Indians’ lone hit.
