The Van-Far Indians baseball team picked up a pair of big wins last week.
They first scored four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to knock off Louisiana 10-2.
They opened the scoring with one run in the second inning when Colten Jensen had an RBI single to score Treyson Culwell.
Down 2-1, they tied the game when Josh Hodde’s sacrifice fly scored Logan Wilson.
In the fifth, Treyson Culwell’s sacrifice fly scored Wilson for one run. Caden Wilburn then scored on Nathan Beatty’s RBI single. Sam Middleton added an RBI single to score Beatty.
In the sixth, Wilburn’s RBI double scored Wilson. He then scored on Hodde’s RBI triple.
Beatty added an RBI single to score Hodde before Aidan Lowrance scored on Riley Culwell’s sacrifice fly.
Beatty finished with three hits, three RBIs, and one run scored. Caden Wilburn added three hits, two runs scored, and one RBI; Hodde added two RBIs and two runs scored; Wilson scored three runs; Treyson Culwell had one RBI and one run scored; Lowrance scored one run; while Riley Culwell, Jensen, and Middleton each had one RBI.
Treyson Culwell earned the win on the mound after tossing 6.1 innings and allowing one earned run on five hits with nine strikeouts. Riley Culwell tossed two-thirds of an inning and allowed no earned runs and just two hits.
The Indians also won a slug fest with Sturgeon, getting an 18-14 win after scoring 10 runs in the fifth inning.
Van-Far also scored six runs in the sixth to take a 17-14 lead before holding on late for the win.
The Indians took advantage of six Sturgeon errors.
Caden Wilburn led the Indians with three hits, two RBIs, and four runs scored.
Jensen had three hits, two RBIs, and three runs scored; Hodde had four RBIs and two runs scored; Riley Culwell added three RBIs and one run scored; Middletown scored two runs and had one RBI; Wilson added two RBIs and three runs scored; Treyson Culwell added two runs scored; and Lowrance had one RBI and one run scored.
Wilson got the win in relief after tossing three innings and allowing just two earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Hodde tossed 3.1 innings and allowed seven earned runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and four walks along with a home run.
Riley Culwell tossed two-thirds of an inning and gave up two earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and one walk.
