The Van-Far Alumni and Friends Association is planning a “Fall Fling” event to be held on Prairie Days, September 23.
The informal gathering will be held at the Grand Vandalia Hotel from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about the activities of the Alumni Association, to visit with friends, and enjoy some free refreshments.
Follow the smell of freshly popped popcorn to the dining room of the hotel where guests will see displays of alumni activities, scholarship winners, and lists of those who are Association members. Memberships will be available at $10 per person for one year, $100 per person or $150 per couple for a life membership for those wishing to join and support the Association. An opportunity to contribute to the Alumni Scholarship Fund will also be available. The Alumni Association is a 501c3 organization which means all contributions are tax deductible. Various articles of Van-Far memorabilia will also be displayed which should bring back memories to guests. Free Van-Far souvenirs will be given to all attending.
Guests may also want to relax on the welcoming porch of the hotel to visit and listen to music from some of Vandalia’s finest musicians including Stacy Hamlett and Kyle Ebers; Trevor Winders; Wayne Lynn and Friends; Charlie Overton; John Black; and Pete Nasir. The musicians will perform from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. when the Prairie Days Program begins.
All Van-Far alumni, friends, and the entire community are cordially invited to this free event to see what alumni and students are doing to continue the great legacy of Van-Far.
