A bridal gown display of gowns worn by local Vandalians. The oldest gown was worn by Alice Bannister Morris in 1894. She was Donley Morris’ grandmother. Other gowns range from the 40s to the 90s.

There are several new displays being unveiled this weekend at the Vandalia Area Historical Society (VAHS) as the museum re-opens on Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
It will also be open on Easter Sunday from noon-3 p.m.
Some newer displays include on featuring old bridal gowns dating as far back as the late 1800s, part of a historic tree, an old map of Vandalia dated 1917 showing actual businesses in the town at the time, Corn Carnival collector glasses, and more.
Along with the weekend schedule, the Genealogy Room is available for research during those hours and is also open Tuesdays from 9-11:30 a.m. Everyone is encouraged to bring in their family history information.
