President Vicki Wright opened the May 19 meeting of the Vandalia Area Historical Society (VAHS) with a welcome to those present.
After the regular reports were read and accepted, the discussion turned to the new exhibit featuring the work of local artists.
The public response has been very positive. Many spoke of their surprise at the amount of such artistic talent in our area.
Our speaker for the evening, Ms. Mare Prosso, told of her World War II experiences in Germany and Estonia which were very interesting.
The art work will be on display until June 17 and we encourage everyone who has not seen it to stop by anytime during our regular hours of 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday and noon-3 p.m. on Sunday. If these hours are inconvenient for you, call Charlene Teague at 594-3026 and she will be glad to arrange a different time for you. Even those who have already seen it would probably enjoy another visit.
Plans are underway to finish the front section of the Carter Building this summer. Most of the material needed is already on hand.
After setting the next meeting for 9 a.m. on June 16 at the Genealogy Library, the meeting adjourned at 10:15 a.m. Everyone is welcome at our meetings.
Our sincere thanks to those who worked so hard on this project and to those who attended.
