VANDALIA—The Vandalia Area Historical Society is hosting the Missouri Humanities Council’s travel exhibit—“Struggle for Statehood” from Sept. 23 through Nov. 1. However, this the museum has also added several displays that represent the era of when Missouri became a state, in 1821.
A hanging display focused on the area’s prominent leaders during the early 1800s. It is an interactive education of those that helped build our local communities.
Four separate displays were also added, demonstrating the differences in the life of four children and their families living in Missouri during the Missouri Compromise, from 1817 to 1821.
