The Ladies’ Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 2173 met on Thursday, August 14, at the post home in Vandalia.
President Victoria Shaw called the 7 p.m. meeting to order. Opening ceremonies were observed.
The minutes were approved as read for the July meeting.
The treasurer reported the current balance with her report being filed for audit.
A bill was allowed.
Community Service hours were reported to Chairman Ann Wasson. Membership Chairman Val Galloway reported 64% of the members had paid their dues by July 3.
Americanism Chairman Norma Shaw reported the disposal of one flag and the preparation of the POW-MIA Day display at the Vandalia Branch Library in September.
The Charter was draped in memory of member Claudine Stewart who died on July 18, 2014.
Auxiliary President Victoria Shaw and Conductress Ann Wasson administered the obligation to new member Cindy Pirch.
During the business meeting, Charter Member Ara Ogden would be remembered on her birthday with a flower and card.
A location will be found for the LAVFW to participate in the October 4 All Town Garage Sale. The VFW Hall had already been rented for that day.
Closing ceremonies were observed.
Members in attendance were Evelyn Butler, Joy Davis, Vivian Davis, Donna DeTienne, Mary Gramley, Judy Hull, Cindy Pirch, Norma Shaw, Victoria Shaw, Ann Wasson, and Wanda Winders.
The next auxiliary meeting is Thursday, September 11, at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend for the official visit of District 17 President JoAnn Diffenderfer.
