Utterback receives award

DSC_0042Melanie Utterback, High School Physics First and Biology teacher at Community R-VI, was recently selected as one of 10 in the state of Missouri for the 2014 STEM Educator Innovator Awards.
These awards recognize educators that develop and deliver innovative educational practices to inspire and engage students in STEM education.
Utterback worked with the University of MO-Columbia’s Physics First Program that is sponsored by the National Science Foundation to bring Physics education to her rural school district.  She has also worked with fellow educator’s at Community R-VI to obtain a $10,000 America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education Grant that they are currently utilizing to go 1:1 with iPads for the Community R-VI freshmen class.
