Update provided on YMCA Project in Vandalia

Posted on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at 11:27 am

Work being done at the site of the YMCA in Vandalia.

Construction of the Eastern Missouri Family YMCA is progressing. Plumbing and electrical groundwork is commencing in preparation for the concrete slab.
Grove Construction has been taking advantage of the uncommonly warm weather and is on track to complete the concrete slab by mid-December. Materials for the Pre-Engineered Metal Building are expected to be delivered around mid-January. In addition, the City of Vandalia installed the water and sewer connections for the building.
The Vandalia Recreation Corporation and the YMCA Board are frequently meeting to make construction decisions, discuss YMCA operations, and strategize for fundraising. Project volunteers are dedicating their time and talents to ensure project details are finalized and the facility opening will be a success.
Additional funds are still needed in order to open the facility upon construction completion in the summer of 2018. Every donation dollar stays in the local community and is a testimony to the values, hopes, and dreams we have for each other.
If you feel blessed through harvest yields or daily wage earnings, please consider contributing to the betterment of the area. This project is an investment in our community.
Donations are tax deductible and can be made online thru the Mexico Area Family YMCA website, www.mexicoymca.org, or by completing a pledge form. Pledge forms are available at the YMCA display at County Market or on the project Facebook site.
