U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (D) visited POET Biorefining in Laddonia on Monday afternoon as part of her Missouri Agriculture Tour, which is a statewide tour of Missouri’s agricultural economy.
She toured the facility and talked directly with officials on new industry innovations for ethanol producers.
She was joined by Steve Murphy, General Manager of POET Laddonia and POET Macon; David Vogt, President of ECAP; Jay Schutte, Missouri Corn Growers board member and ECAP board member; and Samantha Davis, Missouri Corn Growers.
During her visit, Sen. McCaskill and those on the tour discussed efforts in Washington D.C., prices, G.M.O.’s, global warming, and more. The point of her visit was to hear about Missouri’s ethanol industry to help inform her advocacy in Congress.
In recent weeks, State Senator Jeanie Riddle (R) and U.S. Representative Sam Graves (R) have also visited with POET Biorefining officials to discuss the ethanol industry.
