In their game against rival Wellsville, the Community R-VI Trojans got off to an extremely slow start in the first half and they couldn’t recover in a 71-51 loss to rival Wellsville-Middletown on the road.
“We had a hard time getting shots to fall,” said Community R-VI head coach Matt Thomas. “We only scored 15 first-half points and really that was the difference. Defensively, we struggled to stop them. We were just a step slow the entire first half.  I thought in the second half we were better but just couldn’t get enough stops to get back into the game.”
In the second half, the Trojans were outscored by just one point.
Cordell Hollensteiner led the Trojans with 26 points after making three 3-pointers. He also had seven rebounds, two steals, and one assist.
Cadin Escamilla finished with 11 points and two rebounds; Blaze Escamilla added six points and one rebound; Matt Gastler scored two points; Klayton Bosworth had two points and four rebounds; Eric Hombs scored two points, five rebounds, and three steals; and Adam Hombs added two points, one rebound, and one steal.
Evan Hartsock had one rebound and one assist.
