Trojans JH boys hit tough stretch with three losses

The Community R-VI Junior High boys basketball team improved to 3-0 two weeks ago after a 55-33 victory over St. Brendan.
The Trojans led by six at the end of the first quarter before pushing ahead 31-15 at halftime.
Community R-VI outscored St. Brendan 24-18 in the second half and held on for the victory.
The Trojans made 4-of-8 free throws in the win.
Blaze Escamilla led the Trojans with 15 points while Grant Stafford also scored in double digits with 10 points. Jerry Dresewerd had nine points, Cadin Escamilla added seven, Evan Hartsock scored six, Nathan Gastler had four, and both Trey Montandon and Clayton Bosworth scored two points.
Jordan Hornick scored a game-high 23 points for St. Brendan.
Mark Twain
Unfortunately, the Trojans hit a losing skid last week. On Monday, November 3, the Trojans trailed Mark Twain 24-13 at halftime before falling late 43-21.
Stafford scored a team-high seven points while Blaze Escamilla scored six points. Montandon and Bosworth each scored four points. Hartsock had three points.
Wellsville
One night later, the Trojans trailed by just three points at the end of the first quarter in a game against Wellsville-Middletown.
Community R-VI was outscored 12-3 before halftime, causing the Trojans to trail 26-14 at the end of the second quarter.
The Trojans ended up losing the game 34-28.
Bosworth scored 14 points. Montandon added six points while both Stafford and Gastler had four points.
The Trojans made just 4-of-13 free throws in the loss.
Silex
At the end of the week, the Trojans trailed 14-4 early to Silex before finding themselves down 23-11 at halftime.
Community R-VI cut the led to seven points in the second half but couldn’t complete a rally in a 38-25 loss.
Cadin Escamilla, Jaryn Kuda, and Stafford each scored six points. Montandon and Bosworth each added three points while Gastler scored one point.
The Trojans struggles at the free throw line continued as they made just 9-of-25 attempts.
