Trojans get first win over Prairie Home

After Prairie Home made two late free throws to tie the game with Community R-VI, Cadin Escamilla hit a layup with 3.2 seconds remaining in the game to give the Trojans their first win of the season.
“Really proud of our guys to battle on the road and come away with the win,” said Community R-VI head coach Matt Thomas. “I thought we made some good adjustments during the game and kept our head in it.”
Cordell Hollensteiner led the offensive charge in the first half.
He scored nine of the team’s 12 points in the first quarter for an early 12-11 lead.
He added seven more points in the third quarter while Cadin Escamilla hit two 3-pointers for a 32-26 halftime edge.
Prairie Home came charging out of halftime as they held Hollensteiner to just three points in the third quarter to take a 47-44 lead.
Cadin Escamilla made two 3-pointers and had eight points in the third.
Five different players scored for the Trojans in the fourth quarter to help them be in the game until Cadin Escamilla’s winning shot in the final seconds.
Hollensteiner had 23 points, eight rebounds, and three steals while Cadin Escamilla tallied 17 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
Eric Hombs had eight points, five assists, and four rebounds; Matt Gastler added seven points,  eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal; and Adam Hombs added four points and two rebounds.
