The Community R-VI Trojans moved to just one game under .500 last week after their impressive 59-27 win on the road against Marion County. Six different Trojans scored in the 32-point victory.
“I liked the fact that our scoring was really balanced,” said Community R-VI head coach Matt Thomas. “We did a good job of looking for each other. I also thought our press did a good job of turning them over early and getting us some easy buckets.”
The Trojans jumped out to a good start in the first quarter with 19 points behind Matt Gastler’s seven points and six from Cordell Hollensteiner. Hollensteiner added six more points in the second quarter to help the Trojans end the first half with 34.
Balanced scoring in the second half helped the Trojans hold on late for the impressive win.
Hollensteiner finished with a team-high 14 points; Gastler had 13 points; Cadin Escamilla scored 11 points; Eric Hombs tallied nine points; Klayton Bosworth added four points; both Danny Kuda and Jaryn Kuda had three points; and Adam Hombs scored two points.
