Posted on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11:40 am

The Tri-County Saddle Club held its monthly meeting on Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Middletown Community Center.
The club started off the evening with a Christmas dinner of barbecue pulled pork from Woods Smoked Meats and delicious Amish-made bread supplied by the club with all members carrying in a side dish.
After the meal, the club had their meeting. They had a total of 40 members present and four guests. They were very glad to have two of our lifetime members present: Mrs. Betty Abington and Erma Lee Traynor whose husband was one of the founding members of the club in 1961.
New officers were elected as follows: Neil Gilbert, president; Jim Hester, vice-president; Lori Jennings, secretary; Cindy Kohl, treasurer; and Beth Gilbert, reporter.
The Horseshow Committee will consist of Sara Hill, Danielle Crowder, and Beth Gilbert. The club would like to welcome them and give the past officers and show committee a “Big Yee Haw.”
It was also voted on and passed that the saddle club would purchase a new club flag to be used for Funshows and parades. The flag was designed by Wes Nation.
Two new members were welcomed to the club this month as was another family for consideration at the February meeting.
Before the meeting was adjourned, Lori Jennings gave all the club members that had competed at the 2018 Funshows a scrapbook of them, their family, and their friends that came to cheer them on.
Also, Lori awarded plaques to two of the members for winning high point accumulations.
The 13 and under winner was Weston Deters, who was not present. Accepting his award was his little sister, Braelon Deters.
The 14 and over winner was Kaleb Turner. Great job, boys!
After the meeting was adjourned, all those attending drew numbers for door prizes for both home and horse.
A special “Yee Haw” goes out to Beth and Neil Gilbert, Sara Hill, and Ernie and Kaleb Turner for setting up the hall and to all the people who donated, made, or bought gifts.
The next meeting will be Feb. 2, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Vandalia Area Fairgrounds.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
