The board of directors of Consolidated Electric Cooperative have announced that Lynn Thompson has accepted the position of General Manager.
Thompson will begin fulfilling his General Manager obligations on April 30.
Thompson has been GVEA’s Vice-President of Power Supply since September 2012. He joined GVEA as a temporary laborer at the Co-op’s Healy Unit 1 Power Plant in 1995. That initial six-week call out has turned into a 22-year career. Thompson has worked in various capacities, including plant operator, maintenance superintendent, project manager and plant manager. Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is a member owned cooperative consisting of 44,000 meters, 460 miles of transmission and 3,151 miles of distribution lines in Fairbanks, Alaska. Generating assets include coal, oil, wind, and hydro.
Thompson was born in Jefferson City and raised in Canton, Mo., where he met his wife Stacey. Thompson earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Occupations from Northeast Missouri State University (now known as Truman State University). He also completed the Management Intern Program through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. For the past 15 years, Thompson has served as president of Fairbanks’ Girls and Women’s Hockey, an organization that his three daughters and wife Stacey, have been involved in as well.
Thompson is an Eagle Scout and enjoys hunting and fishing with his daughters.
Consolidated Electric Cooperative based in Mexico, Mo., has approximately 8,000 meters that serve residential, agricultural, business and industry member-owners.
The cooperative maintains 2,335 miles of line in the counties of Audrain, Callaway, Boone, Lincoln, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, and Ralls.
