Thomas qualifies for state in javelin

With a pair of representatives at the Class 1, Sectional 1 meet last weekend, the Community R-VI Lady Trojans managed to score 11 team points for 19th place overall.
Natalie Thomas qualified for the Class 1 State Championships after placing second overall in the javelin with a toss of 108’08”. The toss set a new school record and personal record for Thomas in the event.
As for Alissa Craig, she placed seventh in the shot put (30’06”) and eighth in the discus (78’06”).
No R-VI boys competed in Sectionals.
Districts in New Haven
One week earlier, the Lady Trojans scored 23 team points to finish in 11th place amongst a large field of programs.
Thomas led the Lady Trojans by placing second in the javelin after her then school record and personal record toss of 105’05”.
She just missed qualifying for sectionals in the 100-meter hurdles after taking fifth (18.59).
She was listed as a scratch in the 300-meter hurdles.
In districts, Craig placed fourth in the discus (79’08”) and fourth in the shot put (30’09.75”). Her shot put distance set a school record and personal record for Craig.
On the boys side, Blaze Escamilla had the highest finish for the Trojans as he took ninth in the 1,600 meters (5:09.67) and ninth in the 3,200 meters (11:47.60).
Hunter Hoeflicker placed 10th in the javelin with a toss of 93’02”.
EMO Conference
At the EMO Conference meet held a couple of weeks ago at Montgomery County High School, the Lady Trojans scored 10 team points to tie Silex for eighth place overall.
Craig scored some team points by placing fifth in the shot put (31’00.75”).
Thomas was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.89) and was seventh in the javelin (95’10.25”).
Elisa Swaim placed eighth in the 100 meters (14.41).
As for the Trojans, they scored six team points to place 10th overall.
Blaze Escamilla scored team points with a fifth place finish in the 3,200 meters (11:17.26). He also took seventh in the 1,600 (5:07.25)
Eric Hombs just missed scoring points in the 100 meters after taking ninth place (12.20).
