Thelma L. (Sis) Woods

Thelma L. (Sis) Woods, 100, of Troy, formerly of Silex passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Sugar Creek Assisted Living in Troy.  Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 31, at the Silex Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lew Kimmel officiating.  Visitation was held Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church.   Burial was in the Mill Creek Cemetery near Silex.
Thelma was born on Sept. 17, 1914, in Silex, the daughter of Charles Henry and Hattie Gertrude Weeks Coose.  She married Steve Woods on Oct. 31, 1936, in Troy. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2008.  Other family includes a daughter Carol McCormack of Lake Ozark, Missouri;  son-in-law David Hollingsworth of Troy;  grandchildren Scott McCormack, Wendy Mease, Stephanie Cole, Luke Hollingsworth; seven great grandchildren Courtney Rhodes, Beau Butler, Carson Branstetter, Peyton Cole, Ava Cole, Anna Cole, Justin Cox, Damon Sasyk, Andrew Mease, Brad Mease;  four great-great-grandchildren Connor Rhodes, Allie Rhodes, Amelia Sasyk and Sawyer Sasyk; special friends and caregivers Pat Roberts and Laura Baragiola.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters Thelma Jean Buchanan and Linda Hollingsworth; one son,Gerald, in infancy; granddaughter Stormy Mehler Haines, great  grandson William Cottle, son-in-law Perry McCormack and brother James Carroll Coose.
Mrs. Woods grew up and lived in the Silex area all her life.
She grew up on a farm and continued farming  with her husband. They farmed together all their lives.
She was a member of the Silex Presbyterian Church and a Lifetime Member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter #80 of Silex.
Thelma enjoyed dancing, cooking for family and friends, playing cards, attending Silex sporting events and the St. Louis Cardinals.  She really enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren most of all.
Pallbearers were David Hollingsworth, Lucas Hollingsworth, Rod Mease, Chris Cole, Beau Butler, Scott McCormack and Austin Rhodes.  Honorary pallbearers were Alfred Gibson and Charles Ellis
